YOU’LL NEED

Candy melts in red, white, and blue

Decorating bags

Food-safe ruler

Toothpicks

Food-safe scissors

Store-bought rectangular cookie (2 1/4” x 1 1/2”)

DIRECTIONS

1.Melt red, white, and blue candy, separately, according to package directions. Fill three decorating bags, separately, 1/4 way with melted white, blue and red candy. Keep warm on warming tray.

2.In one corner, use a food-safe ruler and toothpick to mark a 3/4“ x 1″ [1.9 cm x 2.5 cm] rectangle on each cookie.

3.Cut 1/4“ [.6 cm] off the end of the blue bag. Pipe blue candy in marked area, tapping slightly to smooth. Immediately sprinkle with white nonpareils. Repeat for a total of 10 cookies.

4.Cut 1/4“ [.6 cm] off the end of the red and white bags. Starting with first cookie decorated, pipe alternating stripes of red and white candy. Tap slightly to even out candy. Set aside on parchment paper-covered board. Repeat for remaining cookies.
TIP: Reserve any remaining white candy.

5.Chill until set, about 10 minutes.

6.Re-melt white candy, if necessary. Pour melted white candy into cookie sheet. Tap to level and remove air bubbles.

7.Place decorated cookies randomly over candy. Sprinkle with star sprinkles and patriotic mix.

8.Chill until set, about 30 minutes.
