Makes 20 cookies
Frosted Red Velvet Cookies look festive and taste delicious for any holiday party.
INGREDIENTS
2 cups MARTHA WHITE All-Purpose Flour
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powdeR
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 tablespoon red food coloring
1/2 cup PILLSBURY Creamy Supreme® Cream Cheese Flavored Frosting
Red sprinkles (optional)
DIRECTIONS
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
- In a medium size bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder. Set aside.
- In a large bowl with an electric mixer, cream the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (2-3 minutes). Add the egg, vanilla, and red food coloring and beat until combined. Using a spatula, scrape down the sides and all along the bottom of your bowl to ensure coloring is distributed evenly. Beat again until everything is incorporated.
- Add flour slowly to the mixture until dough has formed. It will be crumbly, this is okay. Use your hands or a spoon to bring the cookie dough together in the bowl.
- Form 20 medium sized cookie dough balls and place onto the prepared baking sheet. Gently press down on each cookie to flatten slightly.
- Bake for 10 minutes, just until puffed and the edges are set. Allow the cookies to completely cool before frosting.
- Spread frosting onto each cookie and top with red sprinkles.
