Salty Sweet Birthday Popcorn Balls

Take your birthday celebration to the next level with these salty and sweet birthday popcorn balls…a crunchy and delicious addition to add some fun to the party!

INGREDIENTS

1 bag (82.3 g each) ORVILLE REDENBACHER’S Gourmet Butter Microwave Popcorn
1/3 cup miniature marshmallows
1 1/3 cups confectioners’ sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
2 tablespoons butter
2 teaspoons water, divided
1/3 cup candy-coated chocolate pieces

DIRECTIONS

1.Line a large tray with parchment paper. Spray large bowl with cooking spray.

2.Prepare popcorn, according to package directions. Remove all unpopped kernels and place popped corn in bowl.

3.Combine marshmallows, sugar, corn syrup, butter, and 1 teaspoon water in medium saucepan. Heat over medium heat and stir until smooth, about 10 minutes.

4.Reserve 1/3 cup of the marshmallow mixture in 1-cup glass measure; set aside. Pour remaining marshmallow mixture over popped corn. Toss with large spoon to coat.

5.Moisten hands with water. Working quickly, divide popcorn mixture and shape into 12 balls. Place on parchment paper.

6.Add remaining 1 teaspoon water to reserved marshmallow mixture. Heat 20 seconds in microwave; stir to blend.

7.Using a small pastry brush, dab marshmallow mixture on popcorn balls and decorate with chocolate pieces by pressing into marshmallow mixture. Let popcorn balls dry at least 4 hours.

8.To serve, place popcorn balls in colorful cupcake liners and enjoy.
