Family Game Night

From Tail Flippin’ to attention grippin’-these family-friendly games will be sure to make holiday memories for years to come! Here at Lotz of Happy Christmas, we’ve tested, tried, and laughed our way to this “best games list” for 2020. The only way to end a year like 2020, is to dive into outrageous family fun that’s sure to bring your family together. Unplug from the devices and plug into new traditions. From great-grandma to little Charlie, there’s something for everyone on our list. And maybe even cousin Phil will participate this year!

Spontuneous: The Song Game

Got a budding singer in the bunch? Or a tone-deaf crooner? Either way, you’ll have hilarious fun with Spontuneous, The Song Game. If you’re the type of person who breaks into song when you hear a certain word, this is your new fav game! Listen up! Each player composes a “Hit List” of “Trigger Words.” When it’s your turn, share a word from your list and flip the timer. The first player to sing (or shout) at least five words from any song that features the Trigger Word gets to move forward in the game. Make sure you’re paying attention because you could get an extra musical challenge at any time! Games average 30 minutes (great for the littler ones) and if you’re not comfortable singing, shout it out!…and maybe, just maybe, you’ll find out you should go audition for that singing TV show!

Rat-a-Tat Roll

Remember the card game rat-a-tat-cat? Now there’s a board version for the whole family! In this game from Gamewright, players roll around the world. The goal is to have the lowest score… so hold onto the “catty” low cards and throw away those “ratty” high cards if you want to compete for the top spot. Watch out for peeks, swaps, and the“wild” spots! Plus, watch out for Grandma-who mastered the original rat-a-tat card game! Two to five players can join in the fun. Recommended age is 6 and up. Gather around your game table for some world-wide catty fun with the whole family.

Pac Man: The Board Game

Remember Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde? Yep. Pac-Man is back as a board game! Introduce the kids to this retro-inspired fun. Best part? As pac-man moves across the board, there’s the familiar “waka, waka, waka” sound from the original Arcade game. How fun is that? For 2 to 5 players, unless one of them is Uncle Dave, who spent his pre-teen years at the arcade…he counts as 3 players! (just kidding!) Ages 10+.
