The Grinch Blossom

Makes 48 cookies

 

Merry Grinchmas! There’s never been a treat that can make your heart grow three sizes with every bite than The Grinch Blossom! Inspired by the famously mean holiday character, each green Grinch cookie is covered in green sugar crystals and topped with a HERSHEY’S KISSES Chocolate and a small red heart sprinkle. These Grinch sugar cookies are easy to make and are sure to please a crowd – of humans and Whos alike. When you’re gathered in the kitchen baking or snacking on holiday treats, you’ll realize Christmas doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas … perhaps … means a little bit more!

 

INGREDIENTS
50 HERSHEY’S KISSES Brand Milk Chocolates, divided
Grinch Green Sugar or lime green sugar crystals
1 package sugar cookie mix (about 17.5 oz.)
flour, butter and egg called for on sugar cookie mix package for cutout cookies
food color (Blue and Yellow)
sprinkles red heart-shaped or 1 tube red decorator’s icing
1/3 cup granulated sugar

 

DIRECTIONS
1. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Remove wrappers from chocolates; set aside. Make Grinch Green sugar; set aside.

2.Mix cookie dough following package directions for cutout cookies. Using food color* tint cookie dough to the desired shade of green

3.Shape dough into 48 equal balls (about 1 inch each). Roll in Grinch Green Sugar. Place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.

4.Bake 7 to 9 minutes or until edges are lightly browned and cookie is set. Remove from oven; cool 2 minutes. Press milk chocolate piece into center of each cookie. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely.

5.Place remaining 2 chocolate pieces in small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at MEDIUM (50%) 15 seconds; stir until melted and smooth. Using toothpick dab a small bit of melted chocolate to the back of heart-shaped sprinkle and attach to cookie or pipe heart onto each cookie using red frosting.

 

Grinch Green Sugar
1. Place 1/3 cup granulated sugar in small bowl or food storage bag.
2. Add equal parts blue and yellow liquid food color to get desired shade of green.
3. Stir or shake to get uniform sugar color.
4. Allow sugar to dry.
