DIRECTIONS
.CLICK HERE to view and print the template. Cut out the shapes.
.Trace the circle and rectangle onto black cardstock and cut it out. Also, trace and cut out the leaves and the snowman’s carrot nose.
.ADULT: Paint the Mason jar white, using a spouncer, and then paint the lid black. Apply a thin coat of paint so it dries quickly. You can always add a second coat if desired.
.Next, make a pom-pom for the snowman’s hat. To make the pom-pom, start by cutting a length of yarn that’s about 10″ long and set it aside. Then, holding the working yarn in one hand, loosely wrap it around the cut out rectangle about 40 to 50 times, and gently slide the entire bundle of looped yarn off the rectangle shape. Be sure to keep the bundle as still as possible so that you don’t disturb the loops. Next, knot the 10″ piece of yarn as tightly as you can around the center of the bundle. The tighter you tie the knot, the fluffier your pom-pom. Make sure you tie the knot exactly between the looped ends in order to make the pom-pom completely round. Then, have an ADULT use scissors to snip open all the loops on both ends. Trim the tails from the center wrapped yarn to blend with the pom-pom. ADULT, trim pom-pom with scissors into the shape of a square.
.ADULT: Hot glue the pom-pom to the top of the Beetle Black cardstock circle.
.Embellish the snowman’s hat with cut-out leaves and a tiny red berry.
.ADULT: Add the button and carrot nose to your snowman’s face.
.Then cut some colorful yarn and wrap it around the Mason jar a few times, to resemble a scarf. Tie a bow to finish it to the side, on the front of the jar.
