Shamrock Glue Resist Tie-Dye Shirt

From JOANN

Go green on St. Patty’s Day with a shamrock shirt featuring a tie-dye twist.

YOU’LL NEED

ONE-STEP TULIP Tie-Dye Kit, green

ALEENE’S Tacky Glue

White shirt

Water

Craft paper or plastic to cover surface

Gloves & rubber bands are included in your kit

DIRECTIONS

1.Pre-wash all your garments and dry.

2.Make sure to cover your surface and wear gloves.

3.Lay out your shirt and place your template in the center of the shirt.

4.Make a shamrock outline on the shirt using Aleene’s Tacky Glue, and spread it with your finger once the glue is on the shirt. The glue should be about 1″ wide around the clover. Let it completely dry.

5.Once the glue has completely dried, dampen your shirt completely. Do not soak the shirt, as the glue will become tacky again. Lay flat and twist the shirt from the center of the template for a spiral design.

6.Rubber band your shirt.

7.Next, fill the tie-dye bottle with water to the fill line. Cover the bottle tightly with the cap and shake until it is completely mixed.

8.Carefully add dye to your shirt.

9.When you are done, wrap the garment in plastic and let the dye sit for 6 to 8 hours.

10.Cut the rubber bands and open up to reveal your design.

11.Unwrap the garment, rinse off the dye, and completely rub off the glue under water. You will need to use your finger to scrape off the glue.

12.Fill your washing machine with hot water on the largest load setting and only use a little detergent. Wash and dry separately. Wash separately for the next couple of washes.
