Unicorn Cake II

Create some magic at your next birthday party with the Unicorn Cake.  It’s so pretty…make sure to take lots of pictures before you slice it!

YOU’LL NEED

WILTON EASY LAYERS! Cake Pan Set

14.5” x 20″ Cooling Grid

9″ Fondant Roller (purple guide rings used)

WILTON Icing Colors: Burgundy, Leaf Green, Lemon Yellow, Orange, Pink, Red-Red, Royal Blue, Violet, Black

Disposable Decorating Bags

Decorating Brush Set

Decorating Tips 1M (3 needed), 3 (2 needed), 12 (2 needed), 21 (2 needed)

Decorator White Icing

Decorator Preferred White Fondant (2 ? oz. fondant needed)

Gum Tex

Craft block

TIP: Combine Burgundy and Pink for Burgundy shown. Combine Violet and Burgundy for Violet shown. Combine Violet and Royal Blue for Blue shown.

DIRECTIONS

*MAKE FONDANT EARS ONE DAY AHEAD

1.Knead 1 teaspoon Gum Tex into fondant. Use 9″ Roller with purple guide rings to roll out fondant 1/8″ thick. Use largest leaf cutter “A” and cut two leaves for ears. Place in wave former to and dry overnight. Reserve remaining fondant.

MAKE FONDANT HORN

1.Use two 1 3/8″ diameter balls of fondant. Roll each into elongated cone shapes approx. 6 1/4″ long.

2.Brush with a small amount of water and twist together.

3.Insert a lollipop stick into the base, leaving 4″ extended. Set into craft block to dry overnight.

MAKE CAKE

1.Bake cake in Easy Layers! Pan Set. Cool.

2.Use decorator icing to stack and ice layers. Ice cake smooth.

TINT ICING

1.Divide icing and tint Burgundy, Violet, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Pink, Red, and Black.

DECORATE CAKE

1.Spray fondant horn with gold Color Mist.

2.Use pink and white Color Dust and round brush to dust inside of fondant ears.

3.Insert fondant pieces into top of cake.

4.Prepare three decorating bags with tip 1M, two bags with tip 21, two bags with tip 12 and two bags with tip 3. Fill one tip 3 bag with black icing. Fill all other bags with combinations of icing colors. Use tips 1M, 12 and 21 and combination color icings to pipe rosettes, stars, dots and swirls for mane. Use tip 3 and black icing to pipe eyes.
