These magical snowman cookies are Santa’s favorite—and little helpers will love decorating every frosty face!
🍪 Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Ready-made vanilla or white frosting
- White sanding sugar (for sparkle!)
- Mini marshmallows, gumdrops, M&M’s, mini chocolate chips, candy fruit strips, chocolate decorating frosting
❄️ Directions:
- Make the dough:
In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla, mix well. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Slowly mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. - Chill:
Divide the dough into two discs, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for at least 30 minutes. - Shape & bake:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll dough into 1” and 1/2” balls (one large, one small) and press together to form snowmen on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Leave space between cookies. Bake for 10–12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden. - Decorate:
Let cookies cool completely. Start by frosting the cookies with white frosting. Immediately sprinkle with sanding sugar. For the eyes, nose, buttons, and hands, decorate with M&M’s candies. You can also use mini chocolate chips for the eyes. For the scarf, cut and shape a candy fruit strip (use the photo as a guide). With the decorating frosting, pipe on a mouth. For the hat, soften a gumdrop by rolling it in your hand and shape to form the hat shape (use the photo as a guide). Flatten a mini marshmallow and shape it for the base of the hat. Roll another mini marshmallow into a circle for the “pom pom” on the hat. Use two more mini marshmallows to add feet (optional).
🎅 Tip: Kids can help shape the snowmen and decorate with colorful toppings—just be sure an adult handles the oven and baking steps!
