Pretty in Pink Heart Cookies

Show your love of hearts with these Pretty in Pink Heart Cookies.

 

INGREDIENTS

3 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup (1-1/2 sticks) butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

2 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

3 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled

Wilton Icing, White

Wilton Icing Color, Rose

 

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. In large bowl, beat together butter and sugar with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well. Add melted chocolate and beat until smooth. Gradually add flour mixture to butter mixture, beating until smooth. Divide dough in half and form into 2 discs. Cover and chill at least 1 hour or until firm.
  3. On lightly floured surface, roll out dough approximately 3/8-inch thick. Using heart cutter, cut out hearts.
  4. Bake 8 to 10 minutes. Cool on cookie sheet 2 minutes. Remove to cooling grid and cool completely.
  5. Using Rose icing color, tint part of the icing medium pink.
  6. Ice some cookies pink and some white, using photo as guide.
  7. Decorate cookies with sprinkles.
