It may seem an unlikely combination, but adding lemonade to your homemade iced coffee creates a bold, tangy and delicious drink. Think of it as an Arnold Palmer, with strong coffee instead of black tea.
INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup lemonade (either ready-made or use our recipe below)
1 cup double-strength coffee
A splash of sparkling water
Ice
DIRECTIONS
1.To make homemade lemonade, first make simple syrup by bringing sugar and water to a boil until sugar dissolves. Let cool.
2.Juice lemons.
3.Stir together water, simple syrup and lemon juice.
4.To make the iced coffee lemonade, fill a glass with ice.
5.Pour double-strength coffee and lemonade over the ice.
6.Add a splash of sparkling water.
Serve and enjoy.
For Homemade Lemonade – About 3 cups
INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 cup filtered water
¼ cup fresh-squeezed lemon juice
DIRECTIONS
1. In a small saucepan, combine sugar and 1/4 cup water. Stir over medium heat for 5 minutes until sugar has dissolved into a simple syrup
2. Remove from heat and let cool completely.
You can store your simple syrup in an airtight container, refrigerated, for up to 3 to 4 weeks.
4. Juice lemons.
5.Stir together remaining water, simple syrup and lemon juice.
