FUNFETTI Flag Layer Cake

This flag-inspired cake will be a showcase at your next patriotic party.

INGREDIENTS

2 boxes PILLSBURY FUNFETTI Stars and Stripes Cake Mix

Additional ingredients to prepare cake mix per box instructions

Optional: substitute 6 egg whites for 6 eggs

3 to 4 tubs PILLSBURY FUNFETTI Stars and Stripes Vanilla Frosting

Red and blue food coloring

 

DIRECTIONS

1.Prepare cake mix for two boxes of cake mix according to box instructions. Optionally, use 6 egg whites instead of 6 eggs for extra white cake layers. Divide cake batter from two boxes for four 8-inch cake rounds. Two cake rounds will be white. Divide the remaining cake batter and dye half red and half blue. Grease cake rounds and line with parchment paper for easy removal.

2.Bake according to box instructions and cool completely. If desired, remove the tops off of each cake round for a flat surface.

3.Place the first white layer of cake upside down and spread a thin layer of FUNFETTI frosting. Add the red layer on top and add frosting. Add the second layer of white cake and top with frosting. Add the blue layer on top. Frost the top and sides of the cake with remaining frosting and top with sprinkles from frosting lids.
