Double Dipped Strawberries

From HERSHEY’S
Makes about 30 dipped berries

Store-bought chocolate covered strawberries won’t look nearly as fancy as this double chocolate homemade option. A layer of HERSHEY’S Milk Chocolate and HERSHEY’S SPECIAL DARK Dark Chocolate make these berries extra special and extra sweet.

INGREDIENTS

2 CADBURY DAIRY MILK Chocolate Bar (3.5 oz each)
1 CADBURY ROYAL DARK Chocolate Bar
3 teaspoons shortening (do NOT use butter, margarine, spread or oil), divided
About 2 pints fresh strawberries with stems, rinsed and patted dry

DIRECTIONS

1.Cover tray with wax paper. Remove wrappers from chocolate bars, break into pieces.

2.Place milk chocolate pieces and 2 teaspoons shortening in medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at medium (50%) 1 minute; stir. If necessary, microwave at medium an additional 15 seconds at a time, stirring after each heating, until chocolate is melted and smooth when stirred.

3.Holding strawberry at top, dip bottom two-thirds of each berry into milk chocolate mixture; shake gently to remove excess. Place on prepared tray. Refrigerate about 30 minutes.

4.Repeat microwave procedure with dark chocolate pieces and remaining 1 teaspoon shortening in clean microwave-safe bowl. Dip lower one third of each berry into dark chocolate mixture. Place on tray; refrigerate until firm. Cover; refrigerate leftover dipped berries. For best results, use within 24 hours.

TIP – For a different look, dip strawberries at an angle rather than straight in.

Conventional Directions – Cover tray with wax paper. Melt chocolate pieces and shortening in top of double boiler over hot, not boiling water; stir until smooth. Remove from heat; prepare, dip and store berries as directed above.
