Party With Style Decorations

YOU’LL NEED

1 Sheet of white cardstock or poster board 14” x 18”
Assorted colors of paper stock (colors of your choice)
1 Package of Craftwood dowel rods 3/16” x 12”
Glue stick
X-acto knife
Cutting surface
1 Roll of double stick tape
1 Roll of tape
Pencil
Ruler
Stickers, embellishments: me & my Big ideas, Jolees)
Crinkle paper strips to fill vase

DIRECTIONS

1.Cut the white cardstock or poster board to the size of 8” x 17”.

2.VASE – Using your x-acto knife and ruler, lightly score the cardstock every 4” on the 8” side. You will make 4 score lines across the 17” width leaving a 1” section at the end. This is where you will glue the container shut.

3.Lightly fold the cardstock on the score line to make a neat fold line.

4.Lay the cardstock flat on a surface in front of you.

5.Using your assorted paper stock colors cut out strips of paper to cover the sides of the flat piece of cardstock. Glue the paper in place with your glue stick.

6.You can overlap colors and you might need to cut out two pieces of the same paper stock in one stripe to cover the 16” width of the vase.

7.You can also use decorative tapes as well to make the strips around the vase.

8.Once you have finished covering the flat piece of cardstock you are now ready to make the base.

9.BASE – Using the leftover cardstock, cut a 6” square. With your x-acto knife, score all sides of the square 1” in from the edge. Where the lines intersect at the corners, cut out the corners. Fold the base on the score lines. Tape the side together with tape and set aside.

10.Now you are ready to assemble the vase. Wrap the sidepiece around the base and glue at the closing seam. Hold in place until the glue has set.

11.FLAGS – Using your x-acto knife and ruler, cut strips of paper stock that are 6” x 2”.

12.On one end of each strip of paper cut a V at a 45 degree angle. You will make 2 cuts on the short side.

13.On the other short end place a piece of tape 1” in from the edge on the backside.

14.Lay the dowel rod on the piece of tape. Roll the edge over the dowel rod towards the center of the piece of paper. This is you base of the flag. You can embellish it with strips of coordinating paper or embellishments.

15.Continue to make more flags using different papers and embellishments to create interest. Make a total of 12 to 15 flags.

16.Fill paper vase with raffia or crinkle paper strips to help hold flags in place.
