DIY Rustic Wood Valentine’s Day Heart

From JOANN

Have a rustic heart

YOU’LL NEED
Rustic wood heart
FolkArt Home Decor Chalk Paint in Imperial
Brushes
Krylon Glitter Blast in Golden Glow
Krylon Make It Last Sealer
Krylon Brass Metallic spray paint
Silhouette Cameo machine & vinyl (or vinyl & craft knife)
Transfer tape
Sandpaper

DIRECTIONS
1.Sand the heart smooth with 100 grit sandpaper followed by 150 grit, providing a smooth surface for the stencil to stick to.

2.Paint the entire heart with two coats of FolkArt Home Decor Chalk using a chalk paint brush.

3.Design a “love” stencil in the Silhouette studio program and cut out the word “love” using the Pea RoxyGirl font with the Cameo machine. Click here to download the Silhouette file.?If a digital cutting machine is not available, print out the word, tape it to the vinyl and use a craft knife to cut it out.

4.Using the transfer tape, adhere the vinyl sticker to the red painted heart pallet. Press the vinyl down hard so it sticks well to the board.

5.Give it a quick coat of the Krylon Brass Metallic spray paint.

6.After 10 minutes, spray the Krylon Glitter Blast in Golden Glow over that.
While still wet, use a stick pin to remove the vinyl, carefully revealing the red paint underneath.

7.After completely dry, give it a coat of the Krylon sealer. This is optional, but it helps the glitter stay in place.
