From JOANN

Groovy Hats!

YOU’LL NEED

White cotton bucket hat
Patch of your choice
Powder dyes in your choice of colors
Scissors
Fabri-Tac glue
Ice
Cooling Rack/Baking Tray
Plastic Gloves

DIRECTIONS

1.Wash the white cotton hat and keep damp.

2.Cover work area and place cooling rack over a tray.

3.Bunch the damp hat and place on rack.

4.Place ice cubes on top of the fabric.

5.Sprinkle powered dye on to ice with a spoon.

6.Allow the ice to melt completely.

7.Wash in cold water to set the dye.

8.Once air dried, center and glue patch in the center of hat.

TIPS

Depending on what patch you choose, choose your dyes to match.
The ice dyeing technique works best on cotton fabrics.

If you use multiple colors of dye, leave some room in between where you sprinkle the powdered dye so the colors do not overly blend.
