Hot Chocolate Bombs

From JOANNS

Christmas Chocolate Bombs

INGREDIENTS

2 1/2″ Sphere Candy Mold
Christmas Tree Candy Molds
Candy Meltables in White, Black, Orange, Pink, Green and Red
Microwaveable Bowls
Spatulas
Toothpicks
Craft Sticks
Parchment Paper
Mini Marshmallows
Hot Chocolate Mix

DIRECTIONS

SNOWMAN BOMB

1.Clean sphere mold and dry with a paper towel.

2.Melt white candy wafers in a microwave safe bowl. Melt for 60 seconds at 50% power. The wafers will be partially melted, stir and melt 30 seconds at a time at 50% power until smooth.

3.Use a small silicone spatula to coat the sphere mold in a even layer of candy.
Chill mold in the fridge for ten minutes. After chilling add another thin layer to the mold and chill.

4.Gently turn silicone mold over onto parchment paper and pop candy spheres out of mold.

5.To make one bomb you’ll need two halves of the sphere. Fill one half with 1 tablespoon of hot chocolate mix and mini marshmallows.

6.Warm a microwaveable plate for 60 seconds. While the plate is warm take the other half of the sphere and lightly rub the edges onto the plate.

7.Do this for only a few seconds, just enough to soften the edges. This will melt the edges of the sphere and work as a “glue” to attach the two halves together. Place the two halves together and smooth out the Candy where the two meet.

8.Place bombs gently into molds for an easy way to decorate. Melt a small amount of black and orange for the snowman’s face. Follow the same melting directions. Use a toothpick to add eyes, carrot nose and smile.

CHRISTMAS TREE BOMB

1.Clean mold and dry with a paper towel.

2.Melt a small amount of light green ( mix a few green wafers with white wafers) and red.

3.With a toothpick or food safe brush “paint” light green details and red ornaments on tree mold.

4.Chill in the fridge for ten minutes.

5.Melt green candy wafers in a microwave safe bowl. Melt for 60 seconds at 50% power. The wafers will be partially melted, stir and melt 30 seconds at a time at 50% power until smooth.

6.Use a small silicone spatula to coat the Christmas tree mold in an even layer of candy.

7.Chill mold in the fridge for ten minutes. After chilling add another thin layer to the mold and chill.

8.Gently turn silicone mold over onto parchment paper and pop candy out of mold.
To make one bomb you’ll need two halves of a tree. Fill one half with 1 tablespoon of hot chocolate mix and mini marshmallows.

9.Warm a microwaveable plate for 60 seconds. While the plate is warm take the other half of the tree and lightly rub the edges onto the plate.

10.Do this for only a few seconds, just enough to soften the edges. This will melt the edges of the tree and work as a “glue” to attach the two halves together. Place the two halves together and smooth out the candy where the two meet. While still soft, gently insert craft sticks into the top of each tree bomb.

11.If the tree has hardened too quickly use a warmed butter knife to gently make an opening at the top of the tree for a stick.

12.Place bombs gently into molds for an easy way to decorate.
Melt a small amount of pink and orange for details on the tree. Follow the same melting directions. Use a toothpick to add details.
